Not for children

Here we go, past Adam and Eve, from Eastest Asia, through Greco-Roma and Indo-Persia, to ChristEuropa and America, and now The fall (bababadalgharaghtakamminarronnkonnbronntonnerontuonnthunntrovarrhounawnskawntoohoohoordenenthurnuk!), a Viconian recirculation.

Some of us are not going to make it out of this. Some of us are going to die this year. Some of us were going to die anyway. Some of us are going to come out of this thing. Some of us will have to remember this for the future. Some will tell this ages and ages hence. Some of us know it still won’t make a difference.

We are arrogant, dismissive, demeaning, deriding. We appreciate nothing, love nothing, revere nothing, respect nothing, value nothing. We scorn the gods and scoff at nature and mock the wise and hail the stupid and shameless. And now, we’ll pay the interest on our trade. Rumpelstiltskin, Mephistopheles, Collect! And now our cups are empty to the brim. These gilded streets, titanic trucks, lavish lounges, bars and nightclubs, hearts and minds are empty. A microscopic nothingness blips on the radar, and straightly we collapse: Kings and Presidents Courts and Corporations Riots and Festivals Scrambling like squirrels and pigeons into holes of brick and glass.

O Great Mother, how long you’ve been patient with us! “What have we done to the earth,” howled Jim. “What have we done to our fair sister? Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her. Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn, and tied her with fences and dragged her down,” and she took it all without an uff of objection, hoping we, Her children, might cease and relent. But we didn’t, so She left us to our sticks and sandboxes and left us to see for ourselves. And now She watches lovingly from afar.

How goes it, fellow man! How fares the cowering and trembling? How fares the ego when nothing remains but each other? How fare your buckets and bank accounts? How fare your mansions and Lexuses when all would be given for a hug? Laugh, you minions, laugh with me at the irony.
